Several excellent golf courses are within easy reach of Barrow or Ulverston.

The Barrow Golf Club

at Hawcoat covers some 6,209 yards with 18 holes (01229) 825444 it is a jewel set amidst the panoramic views of the Lakeland hills and the beauty of the Furness peninsula.

Formed in 1922, it’s elevated position, overlooking the Duddon estuary and with glorious views of the Lakeland mountains, provides a fitting backdrop to this 18 hole, 6200 yard, Par 71, championship golf course.The course is designed to provide exciting and challenging golf to test players of all standards. Furness Golf Club (01229) 471232

on Walney Island just 50 yards from the Irish Sea also offers an 18 hole links course, a pro shop and many other up to date facilities . Founded  in 1872 by  itinerate  Scottish workers, Furness Golf Club is   recorded   as   the    6th oldest    golf   Club   in England.   

Established originally on nearby Biggar Bank, the Club moved  to  its  present  location in 1880. The 18 hole course comprises 6 outward  holes,  6 inward holes and the  final  6 holes  alternating in each direction. This layout coupled with a  varying sea  breeze provides  an  interesting  and  challenging test for all categories of golfer. Bounded  by  the  Irish  Sea  to the  West,  the course affords  beautiful  sea  views which   are  complimented   by the  equally stunning views  of  the South Lake District.

Ulverston Golf Club 01229 582824

is a 6,191 yard par 71 course. The Club, originally founded in 1895, is situated at the southern end of the Lake District overlooking Morecambe Bay. It has been at this location close to the quaint village of Bardsea alongside the coast road to Barrow-in-Furness since 1910. If you are looking for an excellent day’s golf in the Northwest of England try Ulverston Golf Club in Cumbria. The club is situated close to the Lake District overlooking Morecambe Bay and is just a short drive from the M6.
